No matter our role or how many years of experience we have, we can learn how to better elevate ourselves and the role of marketing in our firms. You don’t have to be a senior person with the ‘right title’ to be a leader and to change perceptions about what marketing can do for your firm. The goal of this session is to help build advocates and raise the profile of marketing/BD in AEC firms. Attendees will learn how to leverage their unique skill sets and perspectives to make a difference in your firms marketing initiatives. This session will provide insights on how you can build a case through small wins, personal branding, driving change, thinking bigger picture and leveraging your advocates. Through real-world examples, Chrissy will:

  • Incorporate her personal career story + expand on themes that can help you communicate your value
  • Explore how being proactive and showing initiative (versus being reactive) can help you achieve optimum results
  • Touch on the struggle to not only communicate your value but communicate the value of marketing within an organization (as these two issues often go hand in hand in many A/E/C firms)

Chriss McNamara, CPSM, Marketing and Business Development at KFI Engineers
Chrissy has spent the majority of her career focused on the A/E/C industry. As a marketing professional, over the past 19 years, Chrissy was afforded increased opportunities through supervisors and mentors which gave her the experience to handle a multitude of different types of marketing tasks and levels of responsibility. Prior to KFI, she spent nine years at a planning and design firm where she oversaw the proposal process and other marketing needs including the creation and maintenance of project descriptions, resumes, and the external newsletter. When she saw the job description for KFI, she knew it was an ideal fit. They were looking for a true marketer vs. someone to simply generate proposals. It was a role that embodied everything she was striving to do in the marketing arena – developing and executing marketing plans to achieve measurable results.

Chrissy thrives on variety and the challenges that come with the day-to-day. She loves the ability to one day be focused on marketing initiatives, and the next, be out talking to clients at customer events, or tradeshows and conferences. The most effective input as a marketer comes from clients sharing their pain points and ultimate vision. A strategy-driven thinker, Chrissy enjoys connecting the dots across departments and ensuring everyone is on the same page. She’s passionate and driven, always looking ahead to the next thing her department is going to do to help benefit the firm.
