CPSM (Certified Professional Services Marketer)

CPSM Study Group

As our firms get leaner and more competitive, prioritizing professional development is more important than ever. Becoming a Certified Professional Services Marketer (CPSM) is a great way to solidify your expertise in marketing professional services and to position yourself as a leader in the A/E/C industry. Certification enhances knowledge in six key domains or fields of practice:

  1. Market research
  2. Strategic market planning and implementing marketing goals and strategies
  3. Client and business development
  4. Writing better proposals
  5. Promoting your firm
  6. Learning more about strong, responsible AEC firm management

The CPSM credential is a voluntary certification designed to elevate professional standards in marketing, and influence the future of this vital field – think of it as the PMP or PE certification for marketers. CPSM designation serves as a mark of distinction and offers a wide range of important benefits such as:

  • Increased knowledge about your field and the six domains of practice listed above
  • Demonstrates your dedication to the professional services marketing profession
  • Industry recognition of professional competence
  • Enhanced credibility with employers, clients, and peers
  • Improved ability to compete in the job market
  • Potential for increased compensation and benefits
  • Career advancement
  • Public recognition in the roster of CPSMs on the SMPS web site
  • Invitation to CPSM-only educational and networking programs
  • Access to the CPSM communities on MySMPS

The Twin Cities Chapter offers a free CPSM Study Group once a year beginning in January. The study group provides a structured program for reading the material and enhancing accountability. More detailed information will be sent to interested participants prior to the date of this first session. If you would like to participate or have questions about the group, please email SMPS Twin Cities President-Elect Virginia McCoy.
