Storytelling disseminates information, builds empathy, and gives meaning to the world around us. Telling a story well is what gives it relevance and resonance to a broader audience. In business-2-business and business-2-public marketing, storytelling impacts your brand and drives decision making. You may know that you want to use video to tell your story, but don’t know where to begin. This program will present scripted & unscripted approaches and when use or avoid them.
We’ll give a primer on how location, color, movement, and perspective affect the way your story is perceived by your audience. This program will discuss different scales of publishing like Social Media, Web Development, and Captive Audiences. We’ll provide a few examples for these different markets and how it may affect the way you produce and tell your story. We’ll discuss how to approach a budget for video production both within your company or with an outside vendor and how to avoid pitfalls that can impact both your budget and your production timeline.

About the Speakers

Ryan Siemers, Assoc. AIA, LEED AP, Principal at Ryan Siemers Photo + Design
For the last 10 years, Ryan Siemers, Assoc. AIA, LEED AP., has been an independent architectural designer, photographer, and storyteller. His focus on telling the stories of Architects, Engineers, and Contractors is driven by his passion for the built environment and what shapes it. With a MArch from the University of Oregon and a BS in Architecture and BA in Urban Studies from the University of Minnesota, Ryan’s education and experience working with a national design build firm has shaped his knowledge and appreciation of the social, economic, and political drivers that drive design and impact why and how our environment takes shape. The great recession presented Ryan with the opportunity to re-imagine how he can help shape the world by helping others succeed throughout good times and bad, by craft their stories so that they withstand the test of time and connect with decision makers on a personal level.
